Another excellent site for hiking is the Guanica Dry Forest Reserve, which is over 10,000 acres of dry land. These lands are home to some of the most uncommon animals and plants, with 48 already endangered and 16 that are native only to the island of Puerto Rico. Visitors of Puerto Rico can also enjoy canoeing along the streams that line the tropical jungles or head out to the great open and paddle out into the ocean. Caving is also one of the reasons why people often come to Puerto Rico. With Puerto Rico's beautiful and natural karst formations around canyons and mountain regions, caving really has become one of the premiere nature activities that are available in the island. The rainfall has contributed to Puerto Rico's bedrocks to erode, and now these karst formations have developed narrow canyons and even sinkholes and underground streams and caverns that spell ultimate adventure to the avid caving enthusiast.
